Then I went to Gateway site and downloaded the D conexant driver and followed all the directions and it works. Geeky, very good info.

Okim having this exact same issue, i have a MX, and ive tried installling both windows xp, and windows xp pro, and installed countless drivers, i have found only ONE that will load the driver and recognize the chip, however i still waasnt able to get the sound working, the tech support agent then reffered me to another driver, i still have not found a solution, this is the biggest pain in the asterisk ive ever had working with a system.
