To clear the error I have found that by disabling the adaptor, disconnecting the ethernet cable and restarting the adaptor mostly works but Windows 7 64 is unable to find a network at that stage. Unfortunately my experiences with the BIOS of this board has been very negative. To make it appear in the hardware list the only way I have found to reliably work is to go into the bios and use the lan test in the integrated peripherals page. I hope there will be a fix for this.
